Grant promotes physical fitness

The American Heart Association, in collaboration with the Oregon Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity, will receive a $200,000 grant aimed to increase physical activity and reduce obesity. Three Portland communities will be among those to benefit from the grant. Oregon leads the West Coast in obesity rates, with 22 percent of adult Oregonians classified as obese and another 38 percent as overweight.
